Frequently Asked Questions
What is Lighthouse Christian Academy? Lighthouse Christian Academy (LCA) is the leading source of individualized, mastery-based Christian education and is the official distance learning provider for Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.). LCA currently serves thousands of students across the United States and around the world and has met the needs of homeschool families for 25 years. The academy provides students with the full service of a school administration office from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Students are assigned academic advisors who counsel them on all academic matters related to the LCA educational program and provide students the curriculum necessary for their homeschool success.
Why enroll in a distance learning program? A full-service distance learning program such as Lighthouse Christian Academy validates the education you provide for your child. LCA acts as a third party evaluating and producing each student's records, projected course of study, and official transcript. The academy guides each student in earning an accredited diploma. Your child's tests will be forwarded twice a year to the academy for evaluation and a progress report will be sent to you. Verification of enrollment, official transcripts, and standardized tests are available upon request.
Are LCA students able to succeed in life? Kristan Hendrick of Texas is not just an A.C.E. graduate; she's an LCA "thoroughbred" having completed all of her school years through Lighthouse Christian Academy. Kristan graduated 49th out of 608 in the Class of 2001. She was accepted by and attends Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. She is currently majoring in Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering. Her first semester in college, Kristan earned a 4.0 GPA and was on the Dean's List.
Is LCA accredited? LCA has earned full accreditation with AdvanceED and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Both of these accrediting agencies are widely recognized by educators worldwide and are accepted as leaders in advancing quality school improvement.
To achieve accreditation, LCA successfully completed the candidacy period which included a self-study. Site evaluation teams of experienced educators verified that the academy met AdvancED and SACS quality standards and engaged in an improvement process that enhances student performance.
How do I begin my journey with LCA? Click here to download and print the application. Fill out the application for enrollment and return it to Lighthouse Christian Academy along with the required documents and fees. Once your application is processed, you will receive information and guidance in the daily procedures of the LCA program. Each student will complete a diagnostic test which will be evaluated by an academic advisor and will help place the student into the A.C.E. curriculum. The diagnostic test will determine the current skill level and concept mastery of each student. The student's academic advisor will evaluate the test for strengths and weaknesses and prescribe a curriculum package that will help ensure each student's successful graduation from LCA.
